After 72 years of continuous production at Kensington, Wills closed the Raleigh Park factory in 1985, consolidating its Sydney and Melbourne operations into a single site at Pagewood, renamed Virginia Park.
The closure left a large, prominently located industrial site — just 5 kilometres from the Sydney CBD — ready for reinvention. For a decade the future of Raleigh Park hung in the balance.
